More Pics From the Dedication (Thanks Grammy!)

Here are a few more dedication pics that Daren's mom sent...

The Dedication

Yesterday was McHaney's dedication. Our family and friends came out to see the ceremony. Daren and I were both very disappointed with it, the ceremony that is. It was extremely impersonal and not what we expected.

But, the dinner afterward was wonderful. We went to Mom and Dad's along with the rest of my family (sans Uncle Andrew and Aunt Lauren who were deeply missed), Daren's family, Danielle, Mason, Ava, Jac and Adam. It was a sweet time to celebrate McHaney, and her life. Hopefully Daren and I, along with all of our family and close friends, will be able to raise her in a way that pleases God and brings glory to Him.

Wasting the Day Away

Yesterday was quite a waste. McHaney and I were all set to spend the day running errands in Cool Springs. Of course, on the way out there, my service engine soon light came on. So, I call dad (he's the only other one with a car seat) and ask if he plans to go to CS anytime during the day. Luckily he is and so I rush around trying to get my errands done, but feeling I've accomplished nothing. We drop the car off and they tell me it will be 130.00 just to see why the light is on. Any work that needs to be done will be on top of that! What a rip off!!! I mean, I understand they can't just look at it for free, but 50 bucks seems alot more reasonable.

Anyway, dad had driven all the way out there to get me and so I just left it and went home without a car for the rest of the day b/c they could look at it for several hours. Then, I call Daren and tell him the 130.00 part of my story and he thinks it is a rip off too. He decides we'll just take the car to the dealership on Monday and have them fix it. So, he calls the car place back and tells them not to touch the car. Just lock the key in it and we'll pick it up later. See my point? I did all that for nothing. The whole day was wasted and I got nothing accomplished. I hate days like that!!!!

We have a busy weekend ahead. First, McHaney helped Daddy with a few chores (as you can see). I have some errands to run and then Daren is going to the VU basketball game. Tonight we have a babysitter!!! Yeah! We're going to an artshow and then dinner, I can't wait! I love Mc, but sometimes we need a little break! :) Tomorrow McHaney is going to be dedicated so Sunday will be a busy day as well! I'm already feeling tired just thinking about it!

Faking It

McHaney has started faking small temper tantrums for attention; note how she laughs in the video when I aknowledge her. (I've tried to capture it so you can get the full effect, see left, but this really doesn't do it justice.) What do I do? It is so annoying. If I punish her she just cries more. Plus, it kindof makes me laugh b/c the faces she makes are so heinous. Hopefully it is just a phase. My fear is that she might just be warming up for those terrible twos, throw your body on the floor in the middle of J Crew, act like I beat her, epileptic tantrums. Oh, the joy of parenthood!

Happy 8 Month McHaney

Today we are celebrating McHaney's 8 month... I know, I know, it is a few days early, but since February is the wierdest month of the year, having only 28 days, her June 30th birthday just doesn't match up. So anyway, we love you big girl!

Back from G-Town

Well, our weekend in Gatlinburg has come to an end. Believe it or not I didn't see a single mullet. Pigeon Forge had apparently moved up in the world and is much more metropolitian than any of us knew. However, there was stil an airbrush store on every corner, so they aren't too sophisticated yet.

Spending time with Gimmy and Pawpaw was the highlight of our trip. Pawpaw helped give McHaney a bath and Gimmy loved on her with kisses and snuggles. We hope to make our weekend trip an annual event.

Family is so important and it always feels good to know you're loved.
Hopefully McHaney will never question
that!

Weekend Plans

The Phillips family will be taking a short long weekend to Gatlinburg. We will be on the lookout for Rednecks in Love and Extreme Mullets. Expect a full report on our return. Have a great weekend!
