Mc wants to be a Meerkat
(seriously... she meows at them incessantly. It's hilarious!)

First Real Haircut

Daren took the day off work Wednesday, and we made a fmaily day out of it. I had d meeting about the house early, so Deda and Mc hung out a little bit. After that, Mc's first real salon experience and a little trip to the zoo.

When I came home, we took Mc to get the haircut. She had an appt. at the Head's up in Green Hills at 11:30. (I don't like them there anyway, and think they are VERY snobby, plus more expensive than ELan for a cut and color, but I didn't really know where else to take her.) Anyway, we show up at 11:35 and the girl her appt was with had already taken someone back. You see, she "goes to lunch at 12, so she couldn't wait." says the receptionist who had her baby with her at work. What?!?!!? "I'm five minutes late." Oh, I was fit to be tied!

So, we leave as I'm shooting one foul word after another out of my mouth. Needless to say we will NEVER, EVER go back in there again. We went driving around and I saw a little Fantastic Sam's under the wine shop and we whipped in. I went in, asked if anyone could cut her hair and they said "of course". Ahh, this was feeling alot better!

A nice lady filled her with dumdums and started cutting. I was a little nervous because we've all heard about how toddlers can't sit still, etc.etc. And, Mc isn't the most laid back kid in the world either. But, she just sat perfectly sitll, followed instructions, and we were done in five minutes. I couldn't believe it. She was great!!!! I didn't get it styled or anything, just trimmed. But, it looks much healthier and seems thicker too. All in all, I was very happy with them.

Daddy's Girl

As the week's go by, I see Mc becoming more and more of a daddy's girl. (And, he is spending more quality time with her too!) She loves to play with him, and always has. But, she's becoming more and more excited to see him when he gets home from work. She wants to call him all the time. She talks about him more. She wants to hold his hand instead of mine when we're out places. She calls for him at night when she's scared (probably b/c he's recently started going in and rocking her...) And, last night she wanted him to put her to bed.... wh-wh-what? She's never let him put her to bed before when I'm home. NEVER! Shoudl I be worried? :)

This weekend, I was even able to capture this precious picture. It was Saturday and I'd gone upstairs to do something... Anyway, I was up there about 10 minutes and came down to find this on the sofa. They haven't taken a nap together since McHaney was about 6 months old! I promise... it just melted my heart!

Anyway, I've always hoped that Mc and Daren would have as good of a relationship as my Dad and I do. It looks like they are headed in the right direction!

Dark Chocolate M&M's + Mc= NASTY!!!!!

This is what happens when I leave my child alone with some m&m's. The scenario seemed to be that she ate them, spit them out, rubbed them all over her face, and then ate them again.

You can't quite get the full effect here, but be sure that she was disgusting... I even had to strip her down because she was covered in green candy coating from head to toe!

editors note: I also just noticed that when you blow this picture up to full sizze, she has a large booger in her nose. Lovely!

Family Bonfire

I just went to download a pic off my camera and realized I never posted anything about the family bonfire at Deb's! Every year, Deb has a bonfire at her house for Daren's Grandma's birthday. All the cousins come and we always have a great time. It is one of the only time's all year that Mc gets to be with all her "cousins" (Daren and his cousins are all really tight, so we say all of our kids are cousins now too, which, I guess they are, but still.)

Anyway, we get together, roast hotdogs and s'mores and just have a good ole time! I've posted a few of the pics from this year, and to see how much the kiddos have changed since last year, you can view the 07 post here.

A Weekend of No Plans!

This weekend, although it may sound busy to you guys, was great! We had no real "plans" with anyone and actually got to spend a little quality family time together. Saturday morning Daren and Mc got to hang out as I had to canvas Main St. asking for donations for the 3BW Auction. Then Daren went and ran with his dad and Mc hung out with Gimmy or a while.

I came home, she napped and Daren and I just hung out for a while. When Mc wole up, we took her to see Madagascar 2, which was pretty cute. She loved all the animals and is still talking about it. We ate dinner out, and then took her to Target for a pack of M&M's, her fave!

Yesterday, we hung out all monring and got the house ready for an open house. They went over to my parents to hang out and I sat at the house waiting. I did have someone who was a legitimate looker, so that's good. I think they were actually interested, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! We've GOT to sell this place! Mc didn't fall asleep for her nap until 3, and we were supposed to be at church at 4, so I went to my parent's house to stay with her so DP could go to church. Then we all chilled out together at home and watched "The Rescuer's Down Under". After Mc went to bed, Daren and I watched a really stupid movie called the happening.

All in all, it was a slow weekend for us, and I loved it!

Halloween

Fall Fest

Mc's school had a little Fall Festival last week. I say little... I was very impressed. They had all kinds of games, and prizes, blow up stuff, food... it was great! We didn't stay too long, but here are a few pics.

Walden Farm

On Tuesday we went to Walden Farm with the Nichols. We usually go to Gentry Farm, but we didn't get to this year because we've been out of town so much. This was great b/c they are open during the week. So, Mc didn't have to miss out on her annual trip to the pumpkin patch. And, she got to go with friends... which of course made it even better.

They had all kinds of animals. She saw a live pig for the first time. That was funny. She also saw a live Turkey for the first time. His gobble was very loud though and it scared her. So, we didn't hang out with him for too long.

She got to pick a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch, and bring it home. She picked a pretty good one if I don't say so myself!

Anyway, we had a really good time and although it's quite a drive, we'll definitely be back!
