Attention Seester's Friends!

If you don't know, the seester will be coming to town Aug 28-Sept 2. I would love to see all of you and thought I might have a brunch at my house over the weekend. Let me know if you are planning on coming to town that weekend to see her, and what day is good for you.

Great Sale

Today I went over to Especially Baby to see if they still had a doll I saw on sale a few weeks ago. Well, they did, and they are having a great sale! She was 75% off! So is about half the store! Clothes (not much girls but a lot of boys), artwork, diaper bags, toys, books, bags, clocks, frames, lamps bedding, all kinds of stuff!

The sale just started yesterday, so if you get there when the doors open tomorrow, you can probably still get some good stuff. A lot of stuff wasn't marked, but just ask, basically everything on the right side of the store is on sale!

Why?

This is a question I ask myself at least 20 times a day. Take this incident for instance. I went to the bathroom, and forgot to shut the door. (We usually keep the bathroom door shut b/c of things like this.) Anyway, I walk from the bathroom to the kitchen, get some yogurt out of the fridge and walk back to look for Mc. This is what I find. I mean seriously, she's like a missile; lock in on whatever she can terrorize, and fire!

Pinky Dinky Doo

We don't get Noggin, which is really sad, but did you know you can watch several of their shows online? McHaney is always wanting to look at the computer, see what I'm doing, etc., and one day I happened upon their sight while playing with her. She LOVES Pinky Dinky Doo, which is one of their cartoons. Anyway, thought I would share the link in case any of you can't get Noggin with your crappy cable service! :)

Playing in the Rain

Last night it started raining here right before McHaney's bath time. She loves water so much that we stripped her down and let her go out and play in it for a minute or so. She LOVED it. Of course, she got filthy. She just splashed in the puddles. But, as I stood there and watched her, I thought how nice it would be not to have a care in the world. (Earlier in the day I had watched her play with the neighbor's flowers for about 30 minutes.)

I love that she is so innocent and that everything is so new to her. It seems to me that sometimes, although she is still too young to understand the depths of God, that Mc appreciates God's creation more than I do.

Teta Update

Teta came through surgery and everything went fine. Thanks to all who prayed! Please continue to pray for his quick recovery.

A Prayer for Teta

Will everyone reading this say a quick prayer for my Teta today? We found out a few weeks ago that he has lung cancer. Although they caught it early, he still has to have part of one of his lungs removed. They are supposedly taking him into surgery at 8 this morning. I don't know how long the surgery will last, but please pray that he will come through it with no complications and that he will heal quickly and be back on his feet soon!

Thanks,
RP

Rocking at Grammy's

Mc went to spend the night with her Grammy tonight. Here are some pics of her in her little rocking chair before we left.

Walking with Jill Baby

McHaney has 3 babies. Jack and Jill baby and Doll baby. Today Mc decided to take Jill baby for a walk. This is one of her favorite hew activities. When Utah goes out to the bathroom, she likes to walk up and down the sidewalk with one of her babies. So cute... be sure to watch the video. Today she was throwing the baby down and yelling at it. Crack me up!

Happy Birthday Steele!

Today was cousin Steele's 1st birthday. He is exactly 3 weeks younger than Mc and they are good buddies. We forgot to take our camera so here are a few of our old fave's!

A Day at the Spa

Yeah Right! I just had to post these pictures of McHaney in her bathrobe; I thought it was hilarious!

Later in the night she was in her leather club chair, sucking her paci and watching TV with this on. I wish I could have gotten a picture of that... it was even funnier; like she'd had a bad day at the office or something!

Ball Pits

For years now, since I was old enough to understand the grotesqueness of a ball pit, I've been quite disgusted by them. Just the thought that some kid might vomit their pizza up in the one at Chuck E Cheese, and leave it for me to find, is about the nastiest thing I can think of. (Although, that phobia was somewhat curbed in talking to Jen Chance today. She informed me that there is no longer a ball pit there. I'd bet there's a good chance there were just one to many projectile hurlers for the company to handle!)

Anyway, yesterday we went to try a new gymnastics place out; My Gym in Brentwood. It was great, lots to do. But, guess what they had and guess what was the only thing was my child wanted to do? Exactly... so gross. I even got in with her. It was quite clean though and I wasn't overly disgusted. However, we may have to reconsider further visits to My Gym!

Spoon Fed

McHaney has decided that it is time for her to start feeding herself with a spoon. Isn't it to early for that? It is so messy and although she can go from food to mouth, dipping her spoon into her food is another story. (She self feeds, of course, but only with her hands.)

Does anyone know what the appropriate age to begin feeding yourself with utensils is? I don't want to discourage it if it is time, but I also don't want to continue to clean up her messes if there is no way she's going to get the hang of it anyway!

My 30th

Yesterday was my 30th Birthday. Daren planned a party for me at Sambuca, down in the gulch. I had no idea where we were going or what my party would be like, but he went above and beyond. It was absolutely fabulous and a total blast. The food was great, wine was great, and company was great too! Plus, our two waitresses were fabulous. Very attentive and super sweet. If any of you are looking for a place to have a party, you should check it out. Hope you enjoy these pics!

I'm going to be so broke!

I had McHaney's 1 year pictures taken by Mandy Johnson on Monday. She had them ready yesterday and I got to take a look. Right now I want to frame about 17 of them and order the $250.00 proof book. I'm in BIG trouble. You can check them out by clicking on the link above. Go to Just 4 U Proofing and enter the password phillips. Let me know which ones are your favorites!!!!

Youth Reunion

For those of you who don't know, Daren and I volunteered with the youth at a church we helped plant in Franklin a few years ago. There was no youth minister and the kids, as well as the church staff, considered us just that. Which is comical in itself, I know, but we loved those kids so much!

When it was time to hire a new youth minister, and we were ready to move on to a new church, it was still so hard to let them go. So, I was more than excited to have them over last night.

Several of the old crew came over and we cooked out. I smoked up the whole house with my corn and butter combo (quite par for the course when they'd come over in the old days.) My cake didn't cook in the middle, but after I took the smoking corn out, I put the cake back in. It ended up ok. :) The whole night was hilarious and it was so good to see them.

McHaney wasn't sure about them at first. She didn't know them, and I think she thought they were coming to babysit. But, as you can see from the pictures, she got comfortable quite quickly. (Sorry she has on no clothes. She got pickle all over her outfit and I stripped her. She wouldn't be still long enough for me to redress her!)

Grandaddy's New Toy

My dad bought this Mule from Daren's grandad last week. I'm not really sure why he bought it, other than a toy for him and McHaney, but he does seem to love it. He apparently used it a bunch yesterday to mow, etc. (They live on about 14 acres and, for the most part, he maintains it himself.) He says he fell in love with it. I'm glad he finally gave in and bought himself something!

Doing What Makes You Happy

Well, both of my girls thoroughly enjoyed their holiday. As you can see, McHaney spent her day eating.. yes, that is corn and a BBQ RIB! Of course, she swam as well, which is her 2nd favorite thing to do!

Utah delved into her favorite past time...doing nothing (she especially likes it when she gets to do nothing on MY towel!)

Happy 4th of July

Our neighborhood has a bike parade for all of the kids every year. They line up and ride around the neighborhood on their decorated bikes, skateboards, motorized vehicles, etc. Mc participated this morning in her little car. Didn't she look cute? PS Ethan- Thanks for the bubble maker, it made our parade mobile!

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!!!

Sassy

Shown below are two of McHaney's birthday presents. The leather club chair, a gift from Gimmy and Pawpaw, is one of her favorites. She sat in it last night (doll baby and black bear were also partying in the chair) and watched an entire episode of Veggie Tales.

The second, a gift from Grammy, are her sassy pj's. How freakin' hilarious are those? If you can't read them, they say "Sassy just like Mommy".
